Many of us experienced closures due to the pandemic and, unfortunately, the Home Share Program was no different. Home Share has been on pause for two years but we are excited to announce that it is finally operational once again! Please join us in spreading the word about Home Share, a program that connects Home Seekers with Home Providers.

Home Share is a simple idea; it enables two or more people to share housing for their mutual benefit. A Home Provider offers a private bedroom and shared common areas in exchange for rent, help around the house or a combination of the two. Every Home Share arrangement is unique depending on the needs of Provider and Seeker.

Home Share staff will thoroughly interview and screen all applicants for compatibility of lifestyles and work to match Providers and Seekers. The ultimate goal is to make matches that produce long-term Home Share arrangements. The beauty of this program is that it all boils down to people helping people. By utilizing homes that are currently occupied, Home Share offers very affordable living arrangement. As a senior-focused organization, we are proud that Home Share will allow seniors to age in place, while addressing issues of loneliness, financial hardship, safety and security, and the ability to maintain and repair homes in our community.

The Home Share Program is being managed by Rebecca Hutchinson, who comes back to us from the Area Agency on Aging. Rebecca previously managed the Brighter Days Program at the Virgil Clarkson Lacey Senior Center before leaving to work in Case Management,  and she  is thrilled to be running the Home Share Program in Thurston County. Rebecca is passionate about serving our community and looks forward to sharing future Home Share success stories.
