About the Program

Momentia is a local movement empowering persons with memory loss and their loved ones to remain connected and active in a dementia-friendly community. Senior Services for South Sound and the Brighter Days Adult Day Program are committed to working with a variety of local organizations in Thurston and Mason Counties to create simple, fun and enriching experiences. Each month, several activities are organized so please feel free to join us. Download a current Momentia Activities flyer under Useful Links on this page. Staff is involved in several programs to support people living with dementia and their caregivers, including Alzheimer’s support groups and Momentia activities. When you see this logo in Senior Services for South Sound catalogs and newsletters, you will know that the class, experience or event is dementia-friendly! Eventually, you will see this logo on flyers for many types of community happenings!
People living with dementia and their care partners are being encouraged to take a lead in helping to create a dementia-friendly community. The goal is to expand the numbers of theaters, bookstores, parks, community arts centers, coffee shops and more that offer innovative dementia-friendly experiences. Memory Café, watercolor painting, Music Mends Minds, creative writing and physical movement experiences are just some of what people with dementia can already take part in through South Sound Momentia.
