About the Event

The Portland Art Museum hosts the exhibition “Paris 1900” where you will travel back to Paris at the dawn of the 20th century and experience the splendor of the sparkling French capital as it hosted the world for the International Exposition of 1900. Paris 1900 re-creates the look and feel of the era through more than 250 paintings, decorative art objects, textiles, posters, photographs, jewelry, sculpture, and film. These objects, drawn from several City of Paris museums form a portrait of a vibrant and swiftly changing city. Inspect furniture, jewelry, pottery, posters & ironwork produced in the Art Nouveau style. The splendor of Paris unfolds in vignettes as you immerse yourself in views of 20th century French fashion and “Paris by Night” entertainment.  Your Parisian journey begins with lunch at Chez Machin French Bistro & Creperie. Chez Machin offers a cozy French country atmosphere where traditional French cuisine is expertly prepared for your pleasure. What could get you into the mood of Paris better than savory crepes or French onion soup? Includes transportation, admission and meal. Departs OSC 8:30/LSC 9:00 am. Returns apprx. 7:00 pm.
