We will begin the new year with great short stories, poems, and excerpts from longer literary masterpieces. We will pay attention to structure, characterization, imagery, and themes therein, and we’ll discuss what these works evoke in our own lived experiences, our memories, and our dreams. Some of the writers we’ll encounter are Murikami, Collins, Morrison, Berry, Stafford, Ford, Baldwin, Shaw, Joyce, and Kunitz. We will have a small party during the final class session. Please bring something to share that day. Some of my essays, poems, and favorite quotations are on my website: www.donforan.webs.com. These may help your exploration of stories, plays, or poems we encounter. General Public/Members: $96/$80 Eight Sessions
