The Chinese invented fireworks in the 7th century Tang Dynasty, so what better way to get ready for our own 4th of July fireworks festivities than a trip to Seattle’s Chinatown International District. This tour begins at the WingLukeMuseum with a short introduction that touches on the history of the museum and the area. It’s then onto the Chinatown Discovery Tour where we are taken on an interpretive walk around the District. The tour immerses guests into the stories of the individuals that call this area home. We’ll learn about the various Asian Pacific American immigrants who have contributed to the legacy of the neighborhood; while also looking at the neighborhood as a thriving community. We’ll explore hidden gems around the neighborhood and meet community members who comprise the heart and soul of the vibrant area.
Dim Sum lunch follows at one of the neighboring restaurants. South Sound Seniors always give this lunch rave reviews! Before departing Seattle, there will be some time to explore the museum and its exhibits.
