We’re kicking off our Step Into Nature series with a hike along the picturesque Hamma Hamma River. This series runs April through October with monthly outings to scenic destinations. Our day starts with a hearty breakfast before venturing up Highway 101 to our destination at the Hamma Hamma Campground. The Living Legend Trail is a well-groomed 1.75 mile loop with little elevation gain. Scattered interpretive signs and benches provide opportunities to pause and reflect on the history and unique beauty of the eastern slope Olympic peninsula. After our hike we’ll stop at the one and only, Hama Hama Oyster Saloon for those who want to get a bite to eat or purchase oysters to take home. Don’t like oysters? A second stop in Hoodsport offers the opportunity to get a burger, coffee drink or maybe some Olympic Mountain ice cream.
