Take Action On This Event

About the Event

With lovely Douglas-fir forest, wetlands, and a great network of trails, Island Center Forest is one of King County’s best-kept secrets. Birds are abundant on the wetlands, and the forest is lush, with large, second-growth trees, a testament to the effort that several groups have put into managing this forest in order to restore the health of this area. A member of the Vashon Forest Stewards will guide us through forests and around ponds on a three mile loop trail and update us on the groups restoration efforts.
Our trip will begin with a short ferry ride from Point Defiance to Vashon Island. We’ll head to the town center and the famous Hardware Store Café for hearty breakfast before the hike. After spending a couple of hours enjoying the trails, we will return to town for some ice cream before the ferry ride back to Tacoma. Includes transportation, ferry, breakfast, guided walk and ice cream. Departs OSC 7:00/LSC 7:30 am. Returns apprx. 4:30 pm.
